In prepping for Stagecoach in just nine days, I’ve been listening to my spotify playlist comprised of artists that will be playing the three day festival in Indio, planning to make my viewing selection from the music I’m drawn to the most. One of the bands I came across in my research were the Blue Sky Riders. Comprised of the famous Kenny Loggins as well as veteran songwriters Jimmy Messina and Georgia Middleman; the three met through mutual connections (based mostly on the fact that Messina had written songs for Loggins in the past). With beautiful three-part harmony one of their defining factors, their creative energy makes for songs that are simple yet beautiful, chock full of beautiful storytelling that only accomplished songwriters can manage. Their voices go together seamlessly, with a little bit of a Fleetwood Mac sound to them, not to mention the at times soft and Celtic additions to their tracks. They bring a little bit of surprise with them, building their sound up through rumbling drums, beautiful strings, and haunting vocals.
Check out one of my favorite tracks, Feelin’ Brave, and give their debut album Finally Home a listen! They’re playing Stagecoach on Sunday, April 28th, check them out of you’ll be at the festival!
