Fresh off my Dirt Road Diaries tour high, I caught the front page of USA Today‘s Life section this morning. The headline reads “Luke Bryan can flat-out put on a ‘Party’: Country singer’s new album proves that he has arrived.”
Luke Bryan is having his shining moment right now, and rightfully so. In April the world watched as a tearful and honestly humbled Luke accepted the Academy of Country Music’s greatest honor “Entertainer of the Year.” I remember watching his acceptance speech and feeling overwhelmed with happiness for him and also knowing there would be skeptics who would think it was too early in his career to be receiving the award. Apparently, even he felt the same way.
Luke told USA Today‘s Brian Mansfield winning the award brought a new kind of pressure to his career. “The entertainer thing could be deemed as premature, because I hadn’t done a full year of headlining. So I was kind of like, ‘Oh, (no), I’m going to have to get out here and live up to all the hype.”
“Crash My Party”, Luke’s fourth studio album, is out tomorrow and the first single (the album’s title track), has already proved to be hugely successful. The second single, “That’s My Kind Of Night” will undoubtedly have you dancing and is a shoe in for country music’s next #1 hit. The Georgia native just shot the music video to the track in Tennessee, on his recently purchased 150-acre farm, and true to form we can expect to see lots of catfish, corn and trucks.
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about a new record. With Luke Bryan, you know what you’re getting. Fans, critics and even Luke can all agree, his music is fun.
“My thing is have fun with my music, have fun with my fans and have fun with my family and friends — and let that fun vibe carry me through the rest of this career,” he told USA Today. “If people have problems with me having fun with my music, then they really don’t have any merit with me. I choose to have fun with all this.”
Be sure to pick up your copy of “Crash My Party” tomorrow, or head on over to iTunes at midnight and download the new album. There’s not doubt in my mind that this record will solidify Luke rightful place as country music’s “Entertainer of the Year.”
