Way back when I first started really diving into country music, I was watching CMT one day and on came Deana Carter’s “Absence of the Heart.” I fell in love with that song instantly, and since this was the age of no internet searches or Shazam, I wrote her name down and went to buy her album the first chance I got. I followed her career for a long time, through the all the highs and lows, and when she sort of faded away I kept holding out hope that she’d make a return. Needless to say, I’m so happy to see that she’s back on the country music scene!
“Do or Die” is her first single in something like six years, off her upcoming album “Southern Way of Life” due out on December 2nd, 2013. After battling with her record label for years, Deana started her own label, self releasing this new album full of material that was written over these tumultuous and uncertain few years. “Do or Die” is an honest reflection of surviving day to day, in the sweet and subtle style that has always defined who Deana Carter is.
