It’s that time of year. We’re prepping for our Stagecoach adventure in the desert, making our lists of artists, and checking it way more than twice before heading out for days of music. Just like last year, I’d like to use the weeks leading up to Stagecoach to highlight some of the artists that we’re excited about. There are so many superstars and rising faces taking the stage this year, and in diving deeper into the roster we discover little nuggets of musical beauty that might have gone unnoticed.
So, if you’ll be heading out to Indio this summer to spend three days listening to nothing but country music, follow along with us over the next few weeks. We’ll try and help you figure out who you should take time out of your busy musical schedule to see by listening to each one of the artists and giving you our feedback.
First up is Nashville singer/songwriter Sara Haze, who will be taking the stage in Indio on Saturday, April 26th. Born and raised in Orange County, CA (HEY HOMETOWN GIRL!), she started writing and performing at only 14 years old. While she’s experimented with all different types of music, a task that has seen her music placed in television shows from The Hills and America’s Next Top Model, she fell in love with country music and moved to Nashville in 2011. Once there, here career really started to take off, and she signed a publishing deal with Universal Music and Paul Worley.
2013 was a huge year for Sara, she made her Grand Ole Opry debut in May, and opened for huge artists like Hunter Hayes, Little Big Town and Loretta Lynn. Her voice has that subtle, sweet southern style that floats over every melody in a deliciously romantic way. She writes understated romantic songs and stories full of self-reflective life experiences. Ample with instrumentation, banjo’s and steel guitars litter her songs, adding a truly authentic country feel despite her California upbringing. Check out Hand Me Down, Drunk On Her, and Moonshine (off the Safe Haven soundtrack) to get a feel for her style! For more on Sara, be sure to check out her official website and listen to some of her tunes, if you like what you hear head on out to Stagecoach on April 26th to catch her live.
