New Music Tuesday: Brothers Osborne Show Us Their Roots in “Rum” Video

The slow and dripping melodic feel of the Brothers Osborne’s single, Rum is one of those quintessential summer sounds of southern simplicity. Composed of brothers (shocker, I know!) T.J. and John, Brothers Osborne possess a rootsy sound that almost walks a line between subtle bluegrass and Chicagoan blues, all mixed in with a big ole’ spoonful of country. Rum, the second single off their up-coming album, has a melody that drips like honey over the listener, with a sweet down home sound and blues vocals that melt right along with the strong composition of instruments. It really is a fun song, and the video, filmed in their hometown of Deale, Maryland, captures the essence of a simple, carefree summer. From gatherings at local dive bars to morning fishing trips and crawfish boils, it brings a realness to the mid-tempo party track with the sing-a-long chorus; and let me tell you, that tune won’t leave you easily.
