Stevie Nicks returns to the music scene with her new album of older cuts, 24 Karat Gold – Songs From The Vault on October 9th, to much excitement and fanfare from longtime followers. Today, she released the lyric video to “The Dealer,” a rootsy mid-tempo that possesses all the mystique and wonder of her early days. Each of the tracks on the double album were written some time between 1969 and 1987, but are just now seeing the light of day thanks to the help of the Nashville music scene, who worked over time to craft and record this album. Full of nostalgia, “The Dealer” feels as if it’s taking you back in time, transcending the feeling of young love with beautifully written lyrics that build a cohesive story. The kind of story that is so often lacking in music these days, not just in the country genre, but across all genres. While it doesn’t slap you in the face with the obvious, it’s all you need to contemplate and get lost in the melodic twists and turns, just the way music should behave.
As a long time fan of Stevie, “The Dealer” gets to me in every aspect, from the instrumentation to her wandering vocals, it’s one of those songs you have to hit repeat on. Check out the lyric video below and let us know what you think by tweeting us @JukeboxMixtape or commenting below.
