Last night, on October 17th, one of country music’s biggest vocal groups was inducted into the legendary Grand Ole Opry. Unless you’ve been living under a (country music) rock, you know it was the Grammy Award winning Little Big Town. Together for over 15 years, with hit singles and critically acclaimed albums under their belt, this Opry invitation is the result of a lot of sweat, blood, and tears. It was only fitting that Vince Gill, as well as some words from Keith Urban via video, be on hand to welcome members Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, and Jimi Westbrook into the open arms of the hallowed circle.
I’ve been a Little Big Town since their debut album, and seeing the pictures that popped-up over the course of the evening practically had me in tears. This is such a well deserved invitation for a band that has done so much for the genre. To celebrate, lets all be sure to run out and purchase their new album Painkiller on October 21st, 2014!
Here are my 5 photos of their Opry Induction that you HAVE to see!
