Being iced into your apartment has it’s perks. I got to play around with editing pictures off my new camera and was inspired enough to post some from last Wednesday night with Chuck Mead. So, thanks ice, for your slightly intimidating inspiration via cabin fever.
Chuck Mead is nothing less than a Nashville legend. One Wednesday night during his Nashville residency at the 5 Spot in East Nashville would be enough to showcase that Not only does he bring out an audience of musicians and fans up for a night of fun, and sometimes even dancing, but mix that with his saucy sense of humor and it’s an all around night of perfection. If you’re looking for a place to dance to some alternative American roots meets classic country music, not to mention a little bit of humor, then the next two Wednesday nights at the 5 Spot are the nights for you.
The 5 Spot, for those of you who are new like me, is a hole-in-the-wall venue known for bringing music to the musicians that reside in East Nashville. It cares nothing about being genre specific, in fact I even witnessed some metal music on Friday night that was actually ridiculously exciting. They have dance parties and country nights, and residencies by local musicians, basically just a little bit of everything for all the eclecitc types that live in East Nasty. On top of that, their happy hour is ridiculous. I mean that in all seriousness, I got two drinks for $5. So get out there and dance and drink and take an Uber/Lyft home.
Anyway, couldn’t we all use a little laughter and music on that tease of a hump day? Get your butt out there (as long as the roads aren’t still made of ice) and check out some good old fashion live music.
