Motivating Monday Music: Lose your weekend hangover with these new tracks!

If you’ve been with me any amount of time you’ll know that I used to do a lot of MusicMonday posts, and while I’ve definitely missed those, I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to introduce music that fits with the new direction of the blog. And I think I finally found it! Introducing Motivating Monday Music, where I’ll be bringing you new discoveries that are designed to help you get through the Monday blues. If you’re anything like me, the weekend is never long enough. I’m a firm believe that if we had a three day weekend instead of two days, we’d be a hell of a lot more productive throughout our weeks, both professionally and personally. Alas, I’m not in any position to change the world on such a gargantuian way, so instead I’m here to help you get through this struggle of a day in style.

Below are some new artists, songs, and music videos that I’ve been introduced to over the past few weeks. There’s nothing like a little motivating music to get you out of that post-weekend slump. So, check out the artists below and let me know what you think by dropping me a comment or tweeting me @JukeboxMixtape.

Jordyn Stoddard – Like Me ‘Til You Love Me IMG_3914

Jordyn’s debut album comes out on March 9th and fans of pop-country are going to want to scoop it up. She’s got that Taylor Swift sparkle with an irresistable sugary sweet vocal sensibility. Her debut single, “Like Me ‘Til You Love Me” is all summery romanticism, wrapped up in a catchy chorus that is nearly impossible to get out of your head. Definitely be sure to head to her website and check her out!

Old Crow Medicine Show – Bushy Mountain Conjugal Trailer

If you don’t like OCMS I’m really not sure we can be friends, not only do they put on an excellent show, but they’re stellar musicians. Their news single off their Grammy Award winning album, “Remedy” showcases their talents in the same way the video shows off their comedic personalities. Filmed at the Tennessee State Prison (the same location used to shoot “The Green Mile” and other films) it’s a nitty gritty look at prison life with a wild sense of humor.

Young Brother – KAMIKAZE

If what you really want to do today is get up and groove, check out Nashville-based pop band Young Brother. Formed in April 2014, Young Brother is the solo project of Dalton Diehl, aided by co-producers Dustin Burnett (Augustana, Dave Barnes) and Ruslan Odnoralov on Young Brother’s debut single, “Kamikaze.”  “Kamikaze” is the first of three singles, two remixes, and an EP set to be released later this spring. This track is all fire and energy, designed to get you up and moving, and guaranteed to have you singing along after one listen. You can officially buy this track on itunes on March 10th.

 Kelsea Ballerini – Dibs

After checking her out at the CMIL show I had to track her down online. I realize I was a little slow on the bandwagon with this one, but I’m so glad I came around to it eventually. “Dibs” is a cute play on that little phrase that has built itself into so many of our lives; a witty, pop-centric song that shows just how talented Kelsea is when it comes to building sweet lyrical stories. Check out the lyric video above and then be sure to pick-up her debut album on May 19th!

Got an artist you think I should listen to? Be sure to let me know! I’m always interested in what my readers are into.
