The 2nd day of CMA Fest was even better than the first. Honestly, this year seemed to just get better and better each night. Between rushing around for interviews (which are coming soon, I’m still recovering), trying to take photos, and meeting up with friends… I managed to catch some of my favorite new acts.
The first stop of the day was the Bud Light stage for the beautiful Kelsea Ballerini (again!). I don’t think I’ll ever get over how excited she is to be on stage and the way that energy radiates through the audience in front of her. It’s addictive. Plus, she did Peter Pan again, so how could I possibly complain. Next up came one of my FAVORITE bands right now, The Brothers Osborne, who killed it with each and every song. You should have seen the crazy crowd that poured into the streets for these guys. It was so amazing.
I also stuck around to see Deana Carter at the Bud Light stage.. My first time ever seeing her live after years of being a huge, mega-fan. In fact, Deana was one of the first country albums I bought with my own money. I didn’t take any pictures of her set, but seeing a crowd of people dancing and singing to Strawberry Wine was a game changer.
After that I stopped for drinks with friends and mostly tried to hang out for a bit before heading over to LP Field. Friday was one of the bigger nights at the stadium, and it’s no wonder why. I trailed in just as The Band Perry were wrapping up, driving the crowd crazy with their unstoppable energy. Next up was Maddie & Tae, another of my favorite up-and-comers, and though their set was short it packed a punch. Not to mention the girls looked stunning, as usual.
The always amazing Zac Brown Band played a set that was full of favorites. They’re a mainstay at CMA Fest. I can’t remember one I’ve been to where they weren’t a part of it. In fact, I fell in love with them the first time at the festival just a few years ago. It’s so awesome to see them getting better and better each year.
The night came to a close with ACM’s Entertainer of the Year Luke Bryan. One of the most entertaining moments was when he walked right into a cloud of smoke by accident, taking it all in stride, he jumped back and started laughing at himself. Which, if we’re honest, is one of the reasons I love him so much even when his music starts to stray a little to the left of country. His humble sense of humor is poured into everything he does, somehow only making him more entertaining.
