Motivational Monday: Get Your Week Going with These Tracks!

JB & The Moonshine Band – Mixtape

If you want to throw it back to those days of mixtape making love, this feel good song will take you right there. These guys just released their brand new album, Mixtape, and it’s full of energy to get you through those rough Monday and Tuesday blues. This slow swaying groove is just the thing to ease you into this hectic Monday morning.

First Year on Earth – Georgia

This band has such an incredible story. Frontman Ryan Murphy was inspired to live one year of his life as if it were his last, after witnessing a friend tragically lose his life. He sold what he had and hit the road with nothing but a backpack and a bucket list, featuring items like Run A Marathon, Move To New York, Be In A Play, and of course, Write an Album! They passed through Nashville last week and shared their inspirational story and americana style with our town. With hints of bluegrass, folk, and a huge hit of americana stories, they have an upbeat, jaunty rhythm that’s all at once irresistible. Georgia definitely stands out as one of my favorites, with a hint of that laid back The Lone Bellow feel that I love so very much. It’s just lovely enough to inspire you this morning.

Kristen Kelly – Fire

Kristen recently released her brand new EP, Fire. It’s full of powerful songs that are wrapped up in intense choruses lush with layers of guitars and banjo. None moreso than the title track, Fire. The track is doused in dramatic undertones of passion and desire, which only grow a fury of chaos as her warm vocals melt over every moment of the melody. For those of us that want to add a little excitement and mystery to our Monday, this is the perfect track.

Ashley Monroe – Bombshell

If there’s one thing Ashley does well, it’s honesty. Her authentic style and real life reflections of life experiences are what draw me so much to her music. Bombshell, no surprise, is exactly what you’d expect from her. The leisurely pace of the song is quintessential country as she contemplates letting her lover know that she’s leaving, trying define the time and place to let him down easy. When we all know, there’s never a good time or place for something like that. For those of you who want to get a slow and easy start to this day, enjoy this new track from one of country’s most talented females.
