Kip Moore fans had been collecting songs they wanted to hear on his new album, Wild Ones, for years. Each time he’d perform a new song at one of his shows, they’d all file it away in order of preference for his release, hoping that it would make the cut. One of those songs was the incredibly catch, Cigarette. In fact, there was even a moment in time where he asked fans if they’d rather have that song or Backseat (which obviously made it on the record) on the release. Cigarette won by a lot, even Charlie Worsham voted for it, which was a clear sign that it’s a DAMN good song.
I, for one, was obsessed with it. Which is saying something coming from someone that doesn’t smoke. But it was smart, and different, and would have most definitely been one of the stand out tracks on his album.
Well, good news people, it looks like we may here a recorded version of it after all. From none other than Mr. Frankie Ballard. Probably the only other country artist with the devil-may-care attitude to pull it off. Word on the street is he performed it at a festival over the weekend. SO GET EXCITED, PEOPLE.
