Sorry for the bit of absence! I took off on vacation to enjoy a beautiful wedding in Paso Robles, CA and spend some time with friends and family. Coming back to reality hit me pretty hard and I’ve been playing catch-up ever since. But in my time away there were a number of new music videos that caught my attention from some of my favorite people. Go ahead and check them out below!
Keith Urban – “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16”
There’s something about a cheery, happy Urban track that puts me in an excellent mood. Give me the chance to see his face lighting up the screen at the same time, and it’s game on. This is a simple music video that perfectly coincides with the laid back vibe of the song itself. It’s summertime personified.
Brandi Carlile – “Wherever Your Heart Is”
You gotta love Carlile. Her emotional brand of americana comes to life in this video. An insightful behind-the-scense look at her first-of-its kind 2014 Pin Drop Tour, where Brandi performed in historic venues across the country with no amplification. The song is from her album, The Firewatcher’s Daugher and the clip serves as a preview for her upcoming documentary as well.
Jimmy Charles – “Superman”
Emotional doesn’t begin to describe this heartbreaking track that revolves around a man who finds out he has cancer. With September being Prostate Cancer Charles ties in the importance of early detection. The video is also sponsored by the ZEROCancer campaign (http://zerocancer.org/) and half of the proceeds from iTunes sales will go towards the charity. Know someone being affected by cancer? Share this touching song with them.
Lauren Shera – “The Crashing Sea”
The moment I first heard “Gold & Rust” I fell in love with Shera. It wasn’t long after moving to Nashville that I haphazardly stumbled upon her performing at The 5 Spot, and fell in love all over again. With her new video she doesn’t disappoint. From her subtle, haunting vocals to the perfect atmosphere, it’s everything you’d expect from this incredibly talented songwriter.
Mitchell Tenpenny – “Love & Rock N’ Roll”
This Nashville native is one of my favorite up-and-coming artists, if only because he stands apart from his peers, with that unique, southern voice. It all comes natural to him, but even more so on this effortlessly summer single about the importance of living in the moment with the people you love the most. It’s safe to say the video captures that vibe perfectly.
