Music City might be known for it’s plethora of country songwriters and performers, but most people would be surprised to learn that our city also cultivates and supports artists from all genres. From rock and pop to soul and R&B, we’ve got a little bit of everything, and Nashville-based artists Jeffrey James is proof of that.
The R&B pop artists is known for his groove-heavy alt-pop, a sound that is equal parts sultry and dynamic. His newest single, “Good Friends” is dripping with soulful energy and smooth vocals melting over an addictive groove, so good it’s impossible not to give it a second listen. Something that caught Pancakes and Whiskey’s attention enough that they exclusively premiered the jaw-dropping, dance-centric video.
James has seen rising sucess over the past couple years based off of the success of his first two EP’s, the 2012 Make Your Way To The Flashing Lights and 2014’s I’m Wide Away, not to mention sharing the stage with the likes of The Shadowboxers and Bernhoft. He caught the ears of Sony/ATV publishing and garnered himself a publishing deal, on top of hitting the road to perform at festivals and shows across the country including; The Forecastle Festival and Nashville’s own Musician’s Corner. You might even be familiar with some of his songs, as they’ve been featured on everything from ABC’s Nashville, CBS’ Criminal Minds, and MTV’s Finding Carter.
It’s been one incredible year for James, who will take the stage at The High Watt on November 17th right here in Nashville, TN. Check out the video for his new single “Good Friends” below and purchase the song on iTunes here!
