If there’s one thing I love, it’s Christmas.
When I was a child my family pulled out all the stops to give me and my cousins the most amazing Christmas experience. I was blessed beyond belief to have the chance to spend that special week surrounded by my loved ones, with music blasting, as snow fell from the sky in the Nevada valley. Those memories are ones that I’m certain I will never forget. They’re also the reason I go ham when it comes to Christmas.
So, being able to take part in the ceremony of lights at Gaylord Opryland Hotel last week was exciting. On the first really cold night of fall, clad in a sweater and scarf, I went out to watch as the Grinch crept on stage to turn the lights on. I threw on a parka to go through the spectacular ICE! display, filled with ice sculptures of nutcrackers, ballerinas, and unicorns – and I loved every second of it. Despite the 9 degree temps inside it was an amazing sight to see, and visitors who go between now and January 2nd will have the opportunity to see exactly how the talented ice artists carve their ice.
From the ice skating rink (where I’m pretty sure I almost died last year because I can’t skate) to snow tubing, Opryland has become a one-stop-shop for family Christmas outings in Nashville. They’ve even brought back their Parade of Trees display within the hotel itself, a self-guided tour where visitors can check out trees decorated by celebrities, organizations, and country music stars. Even better? Visitors can then hop online to bid on their favorite tree and win the prize pack that’s associated with it. I went to this last year and it was SO MUCH FUN.
If you’re a family looking to do something on the cheap, or want to experience a live show like How The Grinch Stole Christmas, there is something for you here. Head on over to Opryland’s website to see ALL of the events they’ll be hosting throughout the holiday season!
