Meet OJR: Keeping Rock n’ Roll alive and well in Nashville

IMG_8241If you’re in Nashville, you’ve probably heard something about The Road to Roo. The competition, presented by Lightening 100, is giving one local band the chance to take the stage at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival this summer. I was recently introduced to the charismatic, out of this world musician, OJR, who is hot on the ‘Roo trail. If you’re into psychedelic, 1960’s influenced rock, you need to check out his powerhouse performances and intensely unique rock vibes.

A few suggestions? My Generation (an ode to the simplicity of the 1960’s) and the electric Lips On Fire. With these songs on his roster, he was a shoo-in for the semi-finals of the Road to Roo. So, Nashvillians, lets get behind this rocker with everything we got. Check out Lightening 100’s Facebook page for more info on the next competition. The final four bands will play on March 31 at 3rd & Lindsley. The Tennessee state finals will be held April 4 at Mercy Lounge. In the meantime, check this guy out on Spotify and iTunes, where you’ll find his most recent album, Nashville Demos.
